Tips For Thrift Shopping Wisely
Everybody loves buying the things that they want, but they love it even more if they actually buy for a cheaper price. That is exactly what thrift stores are for, but then again, there is one tiny problem, not a lot of people know how to properly shop at thrift stores. They tend to overspend, which is not how it’s supposed to be since you’re trying to be thrift for a reason.
Some people may also be a little too embarrassed when they shop at thrift stores because they’re so worried about what their neighbor or friends would think, but keep in mind that being thrifty is better than being broke. So without further ado, here are a couple of tips when it comes to shopping at thrift stores.
TIP 1: KNOW WHAT YOU WANT
One of the problems people go through whenever they’re shopping at thrift stores is that they purchase certain things even if they don’t really like them that much, and they only get it because of the fact that it’s cheap.
If you are planning to go to a thrift store, list down things that you would want to get, it doesn’t have to be specific, you can categorize it, whichever works for you, as long as you have a shopping goal.
TIP 2: CHECK EVERYTHING
If you are shopping for clothes, it is best to try things on to see how it actually looks on you or if it is your style at all. However, there might be some thrift stores who doesn’t have fitting rooms so is best to wear a form-fitting attire so you could simply try the clothes over your existing clothes. It is advisable to check the buttons, fabric, and every hem of the clothes are actually good or if it has some damages, there could also be stains around the neck, armpit, and inseam
Same goes for furniture and other items. Make sure they’re all sturdy and doesn’t require any type of repair because if you don’t, it might cost you more money to repair it and it would just make you wish that you didn’t buy and should have just bought a brand new one from the mall.
TIP 3: SET A LIMIT
It is also best if you set a limit for yourself because chances are, you will splurge if you see what the thrift store have, and the temptation is real. Impulse buying is an enemy to everyone so make sure to not overspend that is why you have to set a limit for yourself. Another tip for you to try is to make sure that the item you are buying is totally useful and that you actually love it. It is actually a little more difficult to fight temptation in thrift stores compared to the stores you normal go to, simply because everything is basically way cheaper and you might think that it will all be worth it.

TIP 4: BE NICE TO THE EMPLOYEES
If you actually befriend some of the employees in the thrift stores, chances are, they could give you some advice on which ones are great and that are not ideal to buy. It will also be nice if you ask them when they will have some new arrivals.
TIP 5: CONSIDER THE SEASON
Last but definitely not the least is to consider the season. If it is winter, chances are the summer items are way cheaper since they’re not exactly what people are looking for, this also goes with the stores at the malls.
However, the only downside of this is that whatever you buy for the next season might not be good enough when the time comes, like if it is currently winter where you are and there are neon-colored bikinis that are so cheap, by the summer come, neon-colored bikinis might not be a thing anymore, but of course that would only matter to people who cares too much about being fashionably trendy.
Thrift stores are great if you’re on a tight budget, so keep all the these tips in mind so that you would know what to do the next time you go shopping at thrift stores.
