The Highest Grossing Films Of 2017
2017 has been a great year for movie buffs all over the world. It’s been blockbuster films after another and we just can’t get enough. The year is not yet finished and there are a lot of upcoming films that are sure to become blockbuster hits so this list is sure to change before the year ends, but as of this September 2017, we will be listing the top 5 highest grossing films worldwide. We will be talking about how much the films have earned and a short description for the films in case you haven’t seen it yet. Don’t worry, we won’t be posting any spoilers here. Beauty and the Beast Came in Number 1!
Disney’s live-action adaptation of the popular Disney animated film and the original fairy tale written by French novelist Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve and published in 1740. Emma Watson plays one of our favorite Disney Princesses, Belle and Dan Stevens as The Prince / Beast. The film is about a beautiful and smart young woman named Belle who was taken prisoner by a beast living in an old castle. She finds out that the castle is full of talking and living inanimate objects. She befriends the enchanted objects and the beast, and find out that they were cursed and the only way for them to return to normal is if the beast learns to love someone and becomes loved in return.
The Fate of the Furious Is To Be Number 2
The 8th installment of the highly popular franchise which started out about street racing. The Fate of the Furious is no longer about car racing and is more like any other action film. The franchise has moved further and further away from its street racing roots and is more about heists and other crimes, but adding Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson certainly made the franchise a lot more famous. In The Fate of the Furious, Dom (Vin Diesel) is forced to betray his team by a woman named Cipher (Charlize Theron) and start a string of global terrorism. The team has to stop Cipher and bring Dom home. Even though it’s no longer about street racing, it is surely entertaining and will get your blood pumping. Oh, and there’s still a lot of awesome cars.
The Minions of Despicable Me 3 Takes The 3rd Spot
Despicable Me has been a very successful and popular franchise that is loved by kids and adults alike all over the world. In the 3rd installment, Gru (Steve Carell) has already retired from a life of crime and has become an agent for the Anti-Villain League. He gets fired from the League, and the Minions tried to make him go back to his villainous ways but he refuses. He instead travels to Freedonia to meet his long lost twin brother, Dru. Dru tries to convinces Dru to help him become a villain but initially Gru refuses. They then form an alliance to take down a former child-star turned villain that plans to take revenge against the world.
Wolf Warrior 2 Beats Hollywood Films For The Number 4 Spot
Wolf Warriors 2 is the only non-Hollywood film that has gotten into the top 5 highest grossing films of 2017. It is a Chinese action film directed by Wu Jing who also plays the lead role, Leng Feng. Leng Feng is a former Chinese special forces soldier that does special high-risk missions around the world. Feng has been discharged from the Chinese army and has since traveled to Africa as a mercenary providing security for relief operations for Africa. An evil group of mercenaries starts targeting innocent civilians, and Leng Feng is forced to help bring back the peace and help protect the people.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 Closes Our List At Number 5
Marvel Studios has been making blockbuster hit one after the other, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is one of them. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has a connection to other Marvel films. In the second installment of this epic space superhero adventure, the Guardians are hired by the Sovereign which is a powerful alien race to protect a battery from would be invaders. Rocket Raccoon steals the battery, and the Sovereign sends out a powerful army to retrieve the battery and get their revenge. As they try to escape they find out Peter Quill / Star-Lord’s true parentage.
